How we approach island kitchens
Handover and snag check
Before handover we open every drawer, align every door, and test the lights together with you; small fixes are done on the spot rather than promised for later.
Drawers over doors for base units
Deep drawers on soft-close tandem runners let you see everything at once, unlike door cabinets where items hide at the back. Plan drawers for pots, cutlery, thali and spices, and keep one door unit for the sink area.
Ventilation, chimney and lighting
Indian cooking produces oil and smoke, so duct length, chimney size and an under-cabinet light over the counter are planned together; bad ventilation yellows shutters faster than anything else.
Planning around the work triangle
A kitchen works when the sink, hob and refrigerator form a short triangle with clear counter between them. We start from where your plumbing, gas line and chimney duct already are, because moving them costs more than any cabinet upgrade.
What affects the price
Layout and run length
More cabinet length and corners cost more; an island or U-shape needs more material than a straight run.
Shutter finish
Laminate is the value choice; acrylic and PU cost more for a glossier, smoother look.
Hardware
Soft-close drawers, pull-outs and corner carousels add cost but pay back in daily use.
Countertop and chimney
Granite, quartz, sink and chimney are often quoted separately; ask that they are listed.

Island Kitchens FAQs
How much clear walkway space is needed around a kitchen island?
We recommend at least 36 to 42 inches (3 to 3.5 feet) of clear walkway space on all four sides of the island to allow open drawer extension and comfortable two-person movement.
How long does a modular kitchen take?
Most kitchens take about 15 to 20 working days from design approval, depending on size and finish; your quotation states the dates.
Which plywood is best for a kitchen?
Boiling-water-proof (BWP) marine plywood to IS:710 is the safer choice for kitchen carcases because it handles steam and splashes better than ordinary board.
