How we approach parallel kitchens
Fitting the kitchen to your habits
A family that makes dosa daily needs a large prep zone beside the hob; a household that cooks twice a week can trade counter for dining space. We ask how you cook before we draw.
Why the carcase matters more than the shutter
Shutters are what you see; the carcase is what fails first. Under a sink and near the hob the board meets steam and splashes daily, so we use boiling-water-proof marine plywood (IS:710) for the carcase and seal every cut edge.
Storage that uses corners and height
Corner carousels, tall pantry pull-outs and full-height lofts turn dead space into storage. Lofts above 7 feet are for things you use rarely, with a step stool in the quotation if needed.
Handover and snag check
Before handover we open every drawer, align every door, and test the lights together with you; small fixes are done on the spot rather than promised for later.
What affects the price
Layout and run length
More cabinet length and corners cost more; an island or U-shape needs more material than a straight run.
Shutter finish
Laminate is the value choice; acrylic and PU cost more for a glossier, smoother look.
Hardware
Soft-close drawers, pull-outs and corner carousels add cost but pay back in daily use.
Countertop and chimney
Granite, quartz, sink and chimney are often quoted separately; ask that they are listed.

Parallel Kitchens FAQs
What is the recommended corridor width between parallel counters?
The minimum recommended distance between opposing counters is 3.5 to 4 feet, allowing two people to cook and open lower cabinets simultaneously without collisions.
How long does a modular kitchen take?
Most kitchens take about 15 to 20 working days from design approval, depending on size and finish; your quotation states the dates.
Which plywood is best for a kitchen?
Boiling-water-proof (BWP) marine plywood to IS:710 is the safer choice for kitchen carcases because it handles steam and splashes better than ordinary board.
